The Injury Is Rarely Where the Problem Started
Sports therapy is ideal for athletes of all levels, focused on preventing, diagnosing, and treating sports-related injuries to enhance performance and accelerate recovery. The part that surprises people is how often the painful tissue is the victim rather than the culprit — a hamstring that keeps grabbing because the pelvis is not moving well, a shoulder that impinges because the mid-back has stopped rotating, an ankle that rolls again because the first sprain was never rehabilitated past the point of not hurting.
Treating only the sore part is why injuries recur. Finding what loaded it is why they stop.
How We Work With Athletes
Our comprehensive approach combines hands-on adjustments, soft tissue techniques, and rehabilitative exercises to address issues like joint misalignments, muscle strains, and ligament sprains, helping you recover quickly and perform at your best. In practice that means:
- Find the mechanical cause — a hands-on orthopaedic and movement exam, not a guess from the location of the pain.
- Calm the injured tissue — adjustments to restore joint motion, and where the exam indicates it, Class IV laser therapy to address inflammation in soft tissue.
- Rebuild capacity — Progressive Rehab®, structured functional exercise that restores strength and control through the range the sport actually demands.
- Close the gap that caused it — the asymmetry, restriction or weakness that made this injury likely in the first place.
Injuries We See Most
- Low back pain and stiffness from rotational sports — golf, tennis, baseball, lacrosse
- Hamstring, hip flexor and groin strains that keep returning
- Shoulder pain in overhead athletes — swimmers, pitchers, volleyball
- Knee pain in runners and field-sport athletes
- Ankle sprains that never fully settled
- Neck and mid-back pain from contact sports and repetitive loading
We see weekend runners, high-school and club athletes, adults returning to sport after years away, and people whose sport is simply keeping up with their kids. The approach does not change with the level — only the demands you are being rebuilt for.
Your First Visit
Your first appointment is a comprehensive new-patient exam — history, movement and orthopaedic testing, and digital X-rays on site if needed — for $29, regular fee $189. Dr. Ernst walks you through what he found, what he recommends, roughly how long it should take, and what it will cost before any care begins.
If you have been managing the same injury through a season with ice and hope, an exam is the thing that has been missing. Same-day appointments are often available.
