Consultation
You describe what is going on, how long it has been going on, and what makes it worse. Dr. Ernst listens before he examines.
Examination
A hands-on orthopaedic and neurological exam to find the mechanical problem producing the pain, rather than treating the pain itself.
Digital X-rays if needed
Taken on site, so nothing is guessed at and you are not sent elsewhere and asked to come back. Only taken if the exam indicates them.
Report of findings
What was found, in plain language, with the images on screen in front of you.

What care would involve, roughly how long, and what it costs — before you commit to anything.
What to expect on your first visit
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, and any prior imaging reports. Intake forms are emailed or texted to you beforehand — arrive a few minutes early if they are done, about 15 minutes early if not.
Walk-ins are genuinely welcome. Parking is free in the shared lot, Suite A10 is on the ground floor and step-free, and there is an accessible restroom.
Why the exam matters
Pain is a symptom. Two people with the same back pain can have entirely different mechanical problems behind it — a restricted joint, a disc under load, weak stabilising muscles, or the way they sit for nine hours a day.
The point of this visit is to find out which, before anyone decides what to do about it. That is what the exam and the imaging are for.

Is this really $29?
Yes. $29 covers the new-patient consultation, examination, digital X-rays if needed, and your report of findings — regular fee $189. Additional charges may be incurred for related services which may be required in individual cases, and anything beyond the visit is quoted to you before it happens.
Are digital X-rays included if needed?
Yes — digital X-rays are included if needed, and they are taken here on site rather than sending you elsewhere. If the examination does not indicate imaging, you do not have it and you are not charged for it.

How long is the visit?
